    Actually, there's more to it than that. I recently had a long conversation with my insurance company about the renewal of my auto policy. They told me that rate is influenced by how many claims that particular company has in a region/postal code. This depends on the number of actual clients they have in an area. So, a company with only 5 or 10 clients in a specific area will most likely have a lot less claims, and can offer a cheaper rate, while a much larger company could have thousands of clients in the same area, resulting in more payouts, and they would then charge a higher premium.
