   Yes. Housing developments in the so-called 'wildland/urban interface (WUI are a big contributor to the risk. WUI threats often end up diverting firefighting resources that would instead have been deployed to manage fires in the backcountry. Acres of backcountry forest burn because firefighters are required to protect homes first.
